This week's list of new and returning products follows a few words about our new rack of snacks
Preamble by Steve Siciliano
I love when employees come to me with ideas on how to make our little mom and pop shop better so when Kati suggested we move the beer ingredient kits into the home brew area and use the space to display a menagerie of snacks I gave her the green light.
Now, whenever Kati tackles a new project she does so with unabashed gusto. She searched the web, made a few phone calls and within a week that shelf was packed with tasty, Midwest made products. Check out our new line of popcorn, pretzels, jerky, nuts, chips and trail mix the next time you're in the store.
In other news, we ran into a snag when replacing the rollers on our industrial grade grain mill last week and unfortunately it will be out of commission until this upcoming Sunday at the earliest. In the meantime we have set up a Barley Crusher with an attached electric drill for customers' use.
Our Apollo Economill was manufactured in Saskatchewan and when I was on the phone ordering parts I asked the congenial gentleman how the weather was in Western Canada.
"The weather's been good," he said. "We've had a nice stretch of zero degree days."
"Good God!" I exclaimed. "You call that nice?"
"Yup," he stoically replied. "Last week it was 32 below."
Featured Wines of the Week
Doolhof, Cape Boar, 2018, Cab/Melot blend, South Africa, $9.99/750ml- Red plum in colour, with blackberry, cherry, truffle and cedar wood on the nose. The palate, medium in body, shows an abundance of fruit, softness and fine subtle tannins towards the back. The wine has a dry and lingering finish.

Ashley’s aim was to craft a wine that ‘shouted a statement’ to the world that blends of Mediterranean grape varieties grown in the Riverland would make great wines. The bullets have been shot…..now for the cannonball!

Stone Sublimly Self Rightious, $3.19/12oz-First brewed in 2007 as the Stone 11th Anniversary Ale, this ale was an instant hit. With us. Other folks with great taste loved it too, but we were focused on how much we liked it, and we felt it was truly sublime. That euphoria didn't last long though, as it was soon replaced with the grim reality that when we sold out of it there wouldn't be any more. For us. And that was simply unacceptable. So, we are now blessing ourselves, and you the enlightened, with this ale. Thusly, you may now revel in your own self-righteousness as you see fit with this glorious example of ours. You are genuinely welcome, as it is our pleasure.
